Sebastian Wyss is a British violinist who began playing the violin at the age of four, coming from a deeply musical family. He completed his Master’s studies at the Liszt Academy in Budapest under the guidance of Banda Ádám. Prior to that, he undertook undergraduate and postgraduate certificate studies at the Royal Birmingham Conservatoire, studying with Susanne Stanzeleit.
During his time at the Royal Birmingham Conservatoire, Sebastian won several prestigious awards, including the String Prize, the Herbert Lumby Sonata Prize, the Sheila and Corina Hodge Memorial Prize for Violin and Piano Duo, and the Meher Rohi Gazder Scholarship for promising violinists.
He first studied in Liszt Academy Budapest on the Weingarten Scholarship and during this period won First Prize in the Violin and Piano category of the Leó Weiner Competition. He returned in 2020 to complete his MA studies. In June 2022, he recorded a collection of Romantic violin works for Hungarian Bartók Radio.
Sebastian has frequently appeared as a concerto soloist, most recently performing the Glazunov Violin Concerto in Leicester with the Charnwood Orchestra. He also gave a recital for the 50th Anniversary Concert of the Ramsey Concert Society.
He has taken part in masterclasses/studied privately with renowned musicians such as György Pauk, Henning Kraggerud, Esther Yoo, Bin Huang, Dmitry Sitkovetsky, Jian Wang, and many others. As a chamber musician, Sebastian has collaborated with distinguished artists including Robin Ireland, Márta Gulyás, Magnus Johnston, Alasdair Beatson, and Alexander Baillie.
